I had no idea that I gave birth to such a beach bum. If you had it your way, you would live there, literally sleep there and never leave. To this day you beg me to take you back. You are not understanding why we don't have a beach across the street like we did on vacation. All n' all, the Wright family vacation was a total success.

A weekend away
We headed down to St. George earlier this month so daddy could run a big race, and so that mom could get away and see a show in Vegas. you on the other hand got to hang out with grandma and grandpa for a few days. We left at night after daddy's work. In theory we were leaving right around your bedtime, so it made sense that you would sleep the whole way. Never works out the way you think. You watched Wreck It Ralph on repeat until approximately 10 minutes from our destination, when you finally passed out. By the time we woke you up to get you inside you thought you had slept long enough and it made the most sense to stay up late and play. The weather was amazing, and playing outside for hours was needed after a short cold spell at home. It was the first time we had been apart since you we took off for our cruise in 2011. Getting away for a night was nice, but getting your hugs when we returned reminded me why I love my job so much.

mt. timp
Dad wants to get mom fit post baby brother, and he thinks you are five years older than you actually are, so we spend a lot of time at skate parks, soccer fields, and around monkey bars. You can imagine how excited he was when Nana came to visit and suggested we go hiking. So hiking we went.
Strapped you to the back and Asher to the front and trudged along Mt. Timp for several hours. A funny thing happened on that hike, momma realized maybe dad need to get fit post baby brother, and you are still a two year old that gets tired and needs a daddy's should to sleep on.

bear lake
You lucked out when the friends that invited momma and daddy to Bear Lake insisted that you tag along too. So not only did you get to come, you got to do everything the adults did. You went tubing and four wheeling, and you even got to stay up late to make s'mores.
The first day on the lake you were so anxious to get on the tube that you and daddy toppled in the lake, head first, missing the tube entirely. The cold water caught you off guard, but you were a champ, toughed it out with not a single tear, just a lot of heavy breathing. In no time you were used to the water and loving the tube, so much so we couldnt get you off it. You would say "whoa!" and "Aw shoot!" with every bump. When you weren't being tossed around you talked a lot about the "wayer" and the "beeds," in other words, the water and the birds.
Believe it or not, we made it home with no sun burns!

the zoo
Only a week after leaving St. George and your cousin Sofi, you were able to re-unite and hang at the zoo. The zoo is something we do every summer, but this year was by far the best, after all, your vocab mainly consists of animals. You thoroughly enjoyed all the animals your recognized, and wanted nothing to do with the ones you didn't. To finish the day off you and Sofi rode the merry-go-round, and I hate to break it to you, your younger smaller girl cousin was WAY less scared than you!

water baby
As difficult as it was to get you in the water at the beginning of summer, our work has more than paid off. Now we can't seem to get you out of it. Loving having a water baby!

city creek

We visited the new downtown city creek. And from a mothers perspective, a river running through the middle of a mall with a soon to be 2 year old that wont hold her hand, is possibly the worst idea ever. You thought otherwise. Fortunately no spills, for our family anyways. You especially loved that you had your cousins to enjoy the experience with you. Anxious to go back when it is a little less crazy!

missing hot summer days...
The weather report told us it was the last warm day for awhile. Tuesday was going to bring in a wet storm front and usher in the brisk. It was our last chance to go short-sleeved and flip flopped. Until next year, perhaps.
We sure had a good time while it lasted.
love,
momma
