the domino effect

Asher threw up on me Saturday. All down the front of my shirt, just minutes before leaving the house. Since he is known to spit up pretty frequently, I didn't think to much about it. That night he threw up a little more. I was close enough to  a bathroom to actually lean him over the toilet. His aim was impeccable. But I was now a little concerned.

Within hours I was feeling nauseous. Another hour later, I found myself hunch over the toilet vomiting.  Sadly, with not as good of an aim.

I had hoped that this was over.

In the middle of the night, using as little light as necessary to ensure everyone stay asleep, I found myself disinfecting our house. I laugh looking back. I was feeling horrible, and it required me dragging a waste basket around just in case, all to prevent what was sure to come anyways. With every wipe I felt more and more sick.

It was just then I heard a little gag on the baby monitor. I shook your dad who went running down to check on his boys. Sure enough, you were covered in your own vomit, and so was your bed, and the walls. We couldn't even get you upstairs and in a shower before you threw up again.

The remainder of that evening you threw up on another six blankets. By morning you had thrown up on all of the bedding we own. Laundry was being done around the clock.

Dad had a meeting at 6am, which he surprisingly stayed awake for considering he had spent most of the evening bathing one child or another, and constantly doing laundry. It was on his way home from his early meeting, about 8am, when he was grabbing us some necessities, he started to feel sick.

Over the next twelve hours, you, me and your dad were either sleeping, or dry heaving.

When we thought things couldn't get worse, we all broke out into fevers. It was evident that you wanted to peel over just as much as mom and dad when you refrained from getting up, or moving in the slightest after you had tripped and fell onto your own mattress.

Fortunately it was a short bug. By morning the next day you were requesting cereal like nothing had happened.

So when one person gets sick, no matter how much you try to disinfect, every one gets sick, hence the domino effect.

Lately...

Lately, your favorite animal in the world is an elephant. You follow me around on all fours make elephant noises, or high pitched squeals, and wiggling your tiny nose. You love Diego, he is the coolest animal rescuer on TV. You sleep til 10am everyday. You LOVE chicken and been known to pick up an entire chicken breast by hand and eat it. You think all belts and workout bands are snakes. You love to wrestle dad, and know better not to with mom. You are officially potty trained and only have 1-2 accidents a week, mostly at night followed by a big dinner with lots of drinks. You are constantly fake sneezing just so you can say "bless you." The cold weather has nothing on you, I often find a door wide open and you missing shoes playing outside. You have been known to play in the snow for hours, after the sun has gone down, playing "polar bears" while mom and dad watch you from the window where it's warm. You love to take small bites out of all the apples or eat half of a banana and leave the other half for mom to find. You love nursery and seem sad when we say you have to sit through sacrament first. You have the hardest head of anyone I know, and  you take basketballs nailing you, metal faucets Attacking you, and the ground finding a way to your head like a champ, with no tears. You still cry when i cry, and often need to be consoled after i turn on the scary vacuum. You need a toy to accompany you at the store, and you usually find a stuffed animal in the first 10 seconds, but you gladly put it back when we are ready to leave. You will share everything but your trains and your toy whales, you have made it very clear that Asher is not allowed. You like to sleep upside down in your bed, with your feet up on your headboard. You have the most sweet heart, and the wildest imagination. Two and a half is pretty great, for both you and me!

our winter playground

Winter is difficult for your short attention. We may not have any snow on the ground yet, but it is much too cold for momma to be outside, and therefore you are suffering the consequences. I never realize how small our house is, until we are trapped in it for a whole weekend. Every toy seems to get old, and every movie has been watched a million times. We go stir crazy to say the least. So we spent an afternoon at Ikea to get us out of the house. Have I mentioned that you climb everything? Ikea was like the dream playground after being locked inside for so long. I window shopped and day dreamed about all the makeovers I wanted to do in our house, and you went wild running with your new found freedom. You climbed on absolutely every chair in sight, every bed at a reasonable height, and every entertainment center in reach. Your dad got exhausted just watching you, but I on the other hand, loved that you were enjoying the experience as much as me. You cried as we left. It reminded me so much of dragging away from the playground or the pool over summer. For now, this will be our new playground, until we are kicked out of course, for abuse of furniture.

staying indoors...

We are homebound until we feel better

And you have lost your patience waiting.
